Bentwaters Sprint 6th May 2007
As part of my plan to return to competition sometime soon, I took the opportunity to go watch a sprint at Bentwaters Parks. Bentwaters is an ex RAF airfield in Suffolk, at Rendlesham which is close to Ipswich, around 45 miles from my home. It is an extremely large airfield with twin runways, currently privately owned. It is a 3.5km long sprint, around 2.5km of which are straights!!!!
The sprint was organised by the Borough 19 Motor Club, but open to SELOC, WSCC, BARC, Hillclimb and Sprint Association, GTD 40's car club, Morgan Sports Car Club and other regional car clubs.
The sprint course is not very spectator friendly, as it consists of a very top ended track with the only access being at the start and finish. There is little chance to view action, hence my photos are all in the paddock area. However, if one is content with spending time in the paddock, revelling in the noise, the smells and the cars, just like I can, then this is a good sprint to watch.
The day ended with a quick blat through the backroads leading to Beccles with three other Seven owners... Loads of fun :)
These are some photos from the day (scroll down):
